Hukommelse for musikk: Effekter av individuell intensiv musikalsk opplæring basert på sang hos ikke-musikere med Alzheimer's sykdom
Alzheimers sykdom kjennetegnes ved økende kognitive vansker og endringer i humør og funksjon i dagliglivet. Aktive musikkintervensjoner, spesielt sang, har vist positiv innvirkning på humør, atferd og livskvalitet, men vi vet fortsatt lite om hvordan slike intervensjoner påvirker og påvirkes av kognitiv funksjon.
Formålet med prosjektet er å studere om innlæring av nye sanger har en målbar effekt i en gruppe hjemmeboende eldre med Alzheimers sykdom fra Norge og Argentina.
Deltakerne vil tilbys 5 måneders intensiv sangtrening (to ganger i uken) og deretter 5 måneder med trening kun en gang i måneden, i tilfeldig rekkefølge, med to måneders pause imellom. All trening vil gis av en personlig musikklærer. Effekter vil vurderes gjennom EEG-måling, og kognisjon, atferd og humør vil vurderes gjennom tester, spørreskjema og atferdsobservasjoner før og etter gjennomført opplæring.
Prosjektet vektlegger samarbeid mellom forskere, tjenesteytere og brukere.

What impact does music have?
We know that music, especially singing, can improve mood, behavioral problems, and quality of life. However, little is known about how music affects cognitive skills.
Project team in Norway
Project management

PhD, Research Professor at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS and Professorial Research Fellow at the University of Vienna, trained in music therapy (MT), biostatistics, and trial management, with expertise in designing and conducting international multicentre RCTs of MT. His and his group's research has strongly contributed to the increasing evidence base for the effectiveness of MT in mental health.
In M4M, he serves as principal investigator (PI) and is responsible for overall trial methodology and conduct as well as publication and dissemination.

PhD student in the project; responsible for coordinating the study in Norway, as well as conducting EEG measurements.




PhD, Senior Researcher at NORCE, trained in music therapy and clinical psychology, with experience in working with people with dementia, in designing and managing international trials, and in user engagement in research.
In M4M, she is responsible for intervention quality and daily trial conduct, and helps with overall trial management and communication.

PhD, Senior Researcher at NORCE, trained in psychology, special education, and developmental neuroscience, with expertise in autism research, randomized controlled trials, and music therapy.
In M4M, she supports various aspects of the trial, contributing to the setup of study infrastructure, data management, and methodological oversight as needed.
